What I Wish I Knew Before I Set My First Price

(Because pricing isn’t just about numbers—it’s about confidence, strategy, and self-respect.)

Nobody tells you that pricing your services takes nerve. Confidence and strategy? They matter just as much—if not more—than talent and time.

I remember vividly when I was just starting out as a professional, I was terrified to charge what I thought I was worth. Honestly, it sounds like I was afraid of a lot back then—but this fear? It pierced deeper.

I was scared people would look at my prices and say, “Oh, she’s got some nerve.”

I was scared they’d turn their nose up before even seeing my work.

And on the flip side, I secretly craved that magical moment when someone said “Yes!” just because it fit their budget.

But here’s what I didn’t ask myself:

What does their budget have to do with my skill, my effort, my product cost, my salon space… or my peace?

Spoiler alert: Absolutely nothing.
