What I No Longer Apologize For As A Woman In Business

There was a time when I used to apologize for just about everything, even when an apology wasn’t required.

Have you ever apologized for something and thought about it afterwards and realized that you didn’t really have to do it? The apology benefited the situation or other person and not you.

I used to shrink with humility and explain away some of the bold moves and ideas made. Making myself appear as though I was unsure of my own potential. In my 20s I can admit I would seek out the validation from my peers, my family and friends to make decisions. The desire to gain insight or approval in my life was so intense that it felt like I was craving it as desperately as I would an espresso martini at happy hour.

But those days are gone babes. Not because your girl has a hardened heart but because I’ve gained clarity in who I am and where my validation comes from.

Being an intentional woman in business doesn’t mean I have to be picture perfect or arrogant. It means I no longer move from fear or lack, I move from alignment.

Let me paint the picture of my idea of an intentional woman in business:

She raises every morning with thankfulness in heart and a mind that sharp as a tact. She takes care of her mental by prayer, journaling or meditation. She’s fit for health sake not simply for vanity. She’s a woman who care about her appearance because she understands the value in showing as the woman she wants to become.

She serves her family, friends and community with love, respect and attention to details and meeting the needs of others that restores generations. She values relationships and understands the importance of community and collaboration. She moves slow with focus because moving too fast can lead to mistakes.

She orders her steps because she planned, wrote down her goals with provisions to act upon them. She’s not shaken by failure because it leads to opportunity. She’s leads with warmth and compassion. She own the room and cultivate spaces with confidence.

She does not chase, She attracts. She doesn’t hustle, she builds. Brick by Brick with resilience and grace.

She’s me, she’s you, she’s every woman who’s learned that softness and strength can coexist.
